tl;dr: Apple announced the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6, featuring a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU that deliver up to 30% faster graphics and 25% faster AI workloads versus M5, plus a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, 16GB base RAM, Wi-Fi 7, and up to 24-hour battery life. Pre-orders start October 28, with availability November 6, priced from ₹239,900 in India.
HN Discussion: ↓Older M1 Macs are still sufficient; no compelling reason to upgrade ↓Apple's chip naming scheme (base M6 alongside M5 Pro/Max) is confusing ↓Apple's AI marketing claims are vague and lack meaningful performance benchmarks ↓Memory bandwidth (170GB/s) is a real limitation for LLM workloads ↓Marketing language overstates the product (e.g., 'wide array of ports', possibly AI-generated imagery)
