tl;dr: MapQuest added a toggleable map layer showing the locations of known outdoor surveillance cameras and license plate readers, including those from Flock, Motorola (Vigilant), Genetec, Axon, Verkada and others. The feature sits alongside existing traffic and incident layers, aimed at highlighting how pervasive surveillance has become in users' neighborhoods. It's the latest in a string of updates for the app, which recently added Android Auto support and public transit directions.
