We want you to build the next Git platform on Cloudflare(blog.cloudflare.com)

tl;dr: Cloudflare is running a competition challenging developers to build the "next GitHub" on top of its Artifacts (a Git-compatible versioned filesystem, now in open beta) and Workers, designed for a world where thousands of AI agents concurrently modify codebases. New capabilities include deploying Artifacts repos to Workers, programmatic repo management via bindings, event subscriptions, and data jurisdiction controls. Winners get Cloudflare credits ($25K for first place) and trips to Cloudflare Connect in SF; submissions close October 14, 2026.
HN Discussion:
  • ↓The $25K prize in Cloudflare credits is insultingly low for building a GitHub competitor
  • ↓Centralizing more infrastructure on Cloudflare creates dangerous single points of failure
  • ↓Developers should self-host on owned hardware rather than build on fragile abstracted platforms
  • ↓Existing decentralized or minimal tools (GitSocial, Fossil, bare SSH git) already solve this problem
  • ↑Real-time collaborative interfaces are finally viable now, echoing Google Wave's early vision
