tl;dr: Moonshine is a Linux-only game streaming host compatible with Moonlight clients, running each session in its own isolated Wayland compositor so the host desktop remains usable and no monitor or dummy plug is required. It supports hardware-accelerated H.264/H.265/AV1 encoding via Vulkan, 10-bit HDR, surround audio, and full mouse/keyboard/gamepad input including haptics. Compared to Sunshine, it has fewer features and platforms but offers better session isolation and headless operation; it requires systemd and a modern NVIDIA/AMD/Intel Arc GPU. | |
